A Sound Method for Reducing Anxiety

What if you can greatly reduce your anxiety by listening to one particular song?

According to Dr. David Lewis-Hodgson of Mindlab International, you can. Neuroscientists from the UK recently conducted a study in which participants were give a stressful task--in this case, solving challenging puzzles as quickly as possible--while listening to various songs. The participants were connected to sensors that allowed researchers to monitor their physiological states, including heart rate, blood pressure, and breathing rates.

The result? Researchers discovered that one song reduced anxiety by 65%, as well as decreasing their physiological resting rates by 35%, inspiring a greater state of relaxation than any other song tested to date.

The song? Weightless by Marconi Union. The musical group collaborated with sound therapists, to produce a song that would help slow your heart rate, reduce blood pressure, and lower cortisol (stress hormone) levels.

Give it a listen now and see how you feel. And of course, for the ultimate relaxation experience, book a Lumiere "Weightless" Massage, in which you can listen to the extended version of this anti-anxiety song for the duration of your massage treatment.
