Radical Resilience: Self-care Skills for Tumultuous Times

Into each life a little rain must fall, but sometimes, there are the perfect storms that rip away the foundations of our reality and leave our life in shambles. The world feels unbearably overwhelming and bewildering. We are no long sure of who we are, what to do, or what will be.

During such times of turmoil, it's essential to take especially good care of ourselves. Although it sometimes seems otherwise, genuine self-care isn't self-indulgence. It's an increasingly necessary competence for navigating an uncertain, chaotic, and complex world.

Persistently sacrificing our own well-being for seemingly more pressing issues often results in shortchanging relationships, situations, and causes that need us to be at our best. After all, depleted, harried, sleep-deprived hot messes are rarely effective. 

We need self-care habits that help us stay centered, grounded, and attuned to our inherent wisdom, compassion, and power. Especially if we intend to serve something greater than ourselves, we need self-care that leads to radical resilience.

Radical resilience is what allows us to stand amidst the rubble with dignity and compassion. It is what allows us to embrace the new beginning at the end of the world with strength that we didn’t know we had.

A transformative facilitator, coach, and teacher, Karen offers integral perspectives and practices that amplify personal and planetary integrity. Her work is based on a transdisciplinary background in organization psychology, psychotherapy, expressive and somatic arts, as well as over twenty years of experience engaging people in individual, community, and organizational development. 

Prior to launching Luminanda, she worked as a management consultant within boutique and Big Five firms, and also served the social sector as a manager, therapist, and fund developer.
