For generations, our family has retreated to our little patch of heaven—a small summer cottage on the lake built by my grandparents in 1942.

Summers there were filled with lobster bakes, corn on the cob, hand-cranked ice cream, and homemade blueberry pies featuring freshly-foraged wild blue berries… playing cards and puzzles… lolling about on the raft with dragonflies… swimming, canoeing, kayaking, fishing…

Now that we’re grown and flown with commitments that preclude whiling away entire summers on the lake, for a few months each season, we share this home away from home with a few trusted rental guests.

About the lake:

“Quidnick Reservoir, located in Coventry, Rhode Island, is a picturesque water body with a primary purpose of recreation. Built in 1875, this masonry dam stands at a height of 11 feet and has a maximum storage capacity of 750 acre-feet. The reservoir covers a surface area of 171 acres and is fed by the Quidnick Brook, providing a tranquil setting for outdoor activities such as boating, fishing, and hiking.”
